with adhd to fall back and say, hey, i am adhd and i cant change that.
~my gf uses it a lot, but i never forget what she is.
it is as if it's the blanket excuse for "all things f'ed up"
we struggle a lot with most everything.
is that common in relationships where one has adhd and the other one doesn't?

Tue, May 20, 2008 - 6:04 PMMy hubby does it too. Sometimes it's a fair reminder (I do... not exactly forget, but expect things I sometimes shouldn't), but sometimes it is an excuse. The trick is figuring out when (... and then getting them to admit it). I think what makes the difference is whether it's "this is how it is, accept it" vs. "this is something that's hard for me, let's figure out a way to make it easier on both of us."

Re: Is it common for a person......
Sun, May 25, 2008 - 4:00 PMhey im new here and am recently finding out that i may have adult Add, i dont want to get diagnosed and wouldnt go on meds...im hoping altering my diet will help....in answer to ur question, i know that the symptoms can be extreamly hard to deal with and i wouldnt like to get of the hook by using add as an excuse but maybe i can say well hey i have to be aware of it and change my behavior acordingly. i cant jus blame it on drink or someting else u know,.... so i guess the important thing is to make an effort to be aware of the symptoms of the condition.
